The state and its every citizen have duty and task in the field of environment protection. The environmental policy can only be continued in the countries and in Hungary if we base our activity properly in three factors: •    science •    economy •    Civil society. The relationship of mankind and environment has always changed throughout history. However, our main aim is not to defeat the nature but to live with it consciously and in quite harmony. Accordingly, during the next period the waste management is in the first place among our crucially important tasks. If we look at our wider environment, we have to see, that the interest of the European Union is that the integration and development happen as possible in the surrounding countries – in Hungary as well. One of the main factors of it is the environment protection.

It means enormous challenge for us.

More than 175 years before, our great, 19th century author, Mór Jókai – as if he had really seen the future – wrote about the waste management  in his work with the title The novel of the next century:

„There is no rubbish and no waste of the factories in the city of Home. These are all transformed into fertiliser before they infect the air with their toxic gases. And the sludge gets into its place of destination, into the field, and turns into gold. The poison mingles with the ground and resurrects as bread.”

Jókai dreamt this promising forecast by the end of the 20th century. Now it seems we have to wait a few decades till this prognostication comes true everywhere.
