The conditions of hazardous waste treatment of the Waste Centre of Sajókaza PDF Print E-mail

Please document the following conditions in accredited laboratory protocol.

  1. PH values of aqueous eluate
    • In case of slag, fly ash, asbestos: 6,5 - 12
    • In case of other waste: 6,5 - 10,5
  2. Dry matter content
In case of galvanic sludge: 40 %
      o    Sludge from demolition technology: 50 %
      o    Paint waste: 60 %
o    In case of waste containing mercury, mercury salt, and asbestos dust: 75 %
      o    Waste containing enamel sludge: 90 %
o    In other sludge and waste: 30 %
o    In case of polluted soil, sand, gravel: 85 %

Apart from the upper mentioned materials, the waste can not be liable to water loss. It means that the rest of the water content can appear only in bonded form, not as a separate phase.

  3. Flashpoint closed up: min. 55 °C
  4. Calorific value: max. 8500 kJ/kg
  5. Oil content: max. 2 %

If the waste- that should be disposed- does not compile with one of the receiving parameters, the receiving criteria must be guaranteed by handling process.

Authorised packing and transportation methods:

Waste group "A"

The authorised list of waste in group ”A” – if they are not liable to dusting – can be taken in the Centre on a dump truck covered with sheet. If it is liable to dusting, in the proper package (container, bags) can be transported into the landfill. These kinds of waste can be put mixedly in the empty space between the packages, or to fill in the empty places in the units.

Waste group "B"

The authorised list of waste in group ”B” – if they are dusty or have fine-grained structure – can be transported in double hull, stuffed, air wall containers, in the so called ”big bag sacks”. These kinds of waste can be put mixedly in  the empty space between the packages, or to fill in the empty places in the units, or to stabilise the scarps.

The other sharp, prickly waste can cause harm to the cells, so they must be put in solid package (e.g. iron container, iron barrel).
Some bigger waste can be placed in the cell without package (e.g. casting cores, moulds), because they do not cause harm to the insulation. (In these cases the cell, where the waste will be put, must be filled in at least in 1 m height with the content of the ”A” group, which are dusty or slurry).

Waste group "C"

The transportation of the waste belonging to this group can happen only in the next packages, because they are extremely hazardous for the environment:

  • 2 mm thick closed iron container that has 5 mm thick bitumen coating with 2 mm thick PE folia, or with a same liner
  • A 220 litre, 1 mm thick bayonet-patch bearing plate, the inner side must have 5 mm bitumen coating, and 0,2 mm thick PE folia filling or other filling that is equal with it.

The waste can be placed in separate cells, selected by type, and in identifiable way.

Exclusion criteria:

Cannot be placed in the landfill:

  • Measuring the arrival on platform balance
  • Checking the radioactivity of the arrival
  • Checking the transport documents, the document that is about the origin, content, character of the waste
  • Outer inspection, odour control, checking the packag
  • In case of the lack of documents, not appropriate package, not fulfilling the quality conditions, not properly documented, or if its radiation dose is much more than the background radiation, the arrival will be sent back to the sender
  • In case of necessity, we take representative samples, and make quick check
  • Unloading the waste from the vehicle
  • In case of necessity, depollution of the vehicle
  • Placing the waste in the cell.

At the delivery the exporter of the waste must certify that the waste fulfils the quality conditions that are in the licence. And in case of delivering the same type of waste, they must certify it at the first time.
